Last month, Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group® held their 7th annual employee appreciation month for their operations team in Virginia Beach, VA and Charlotte, NC. Employee Appreciation Month, also coined as “Best Month Ever” by employees, is a highly anticipated month where employees are able to partake in prize giveaways, social activities, catered meals and much more.
“Atlantic Bay truly cares about its employees, and it’s even more evident during Employee Appreciation Month,” said Hayley Bettenhausen, Sr. Compliance Technician. “I’ve never worked at a company where I felt so valued and appreciated like I do here. You’re not treated as a number; you’re an individual.”
This year, the company treated their operations employees to $45,000 worth of various prizes, meals, activities and more.

Atlantic Bay held weekly prize drawings for employees. Items included: cash, travel vouchers, restaurant gift cards, spa days and much more!
Bring Your Dog to Work Day:
On June 23rd Atlantic Bay hosted a “Bring Your Dog to Work Day.” To bring their dog, employees were asked to pay $20 which is donated directly to the local SPCA. This year, the company matched employee donations and the SPCA received a total of $1,000. Atlantic Bay also held a SPCA Wish List Drive throughout the month where employees donated various animal care supplies to the non-profit organization.
Free Food, Catering and Social Outings:
Employee appreciation month was filled with delicious complimentary treats, snacks, and meals. Atlantic Bay held a food truck rodeo where eight local food trucks came to the Virginia Beach location to serve employees. The company also held a catered breakfast and lunch as well as a few stops from local ice-cream truck, Mr. Softee. Employees also enjoyed a Tides Baseball game where Atlantic Bay Processor, Thea Grice sang the national anthem on the field and CEO Brian Holland threw the first pitch with his daughter.
Themed Dress Up Days and Casual Wear
During the month, employees were able to wear shorts to work and were also invited to participate in themed dress up days. Some of the dress up days included: decades day, sports/college day and celebrity day. As the employees showed off their best outfits, executives judged the winners and handed out prizes.
“This year I especially enjoyed playing the various games set up in our office areas” Bettenhausen reminisced. “Everyone was laughing and having a great time. It gave us all a chance to really get to know each other more.”
Shortly after employee appreciation month, on July 12th, Atlantic Bay was honored as a “Best Place to Work in Hampton Roads” by Inside Business with their Employee Choice Award. In addition to having two months dedicated to employee appreciation month, June for Operations and September for Sales, the company offers employees a wide range of benefits including: paid time off, volunteer opportunities, free workout classes, an on-site car detailing service, food trucks every Thursday and much more.
