A little more about me.

I never tell anybody that they can’t buy a house. The question is when can they buy a house.

Super friendly and very positive, Chris Young cultivates close relationships with his clients and encourages them throughout the entire mortgage process. Experienced in VA, Conventional, FHA, USDA, and VDHA, Chris specializes in 203k renovation loans. Since 1993, he has helped over 1,000 families purchase homes.

In 1993, mortgage rates had just dropped out of the double digits. Homeowners were scrambling to refinance their mortgages, opening up opportunities for new loan officers. Chris Young says, “I was real lucky. A man at a local mortgage company was hiring people to answer the phone and do refinances. When I interviewed with him, he said I had the right personality and hired me.”

Chris, who joined Atlantic Bay in 2009, says, “No matter who they are, whether they are buying a $60,000 house or a $600,000 house, I treat all clients the same.” Rather than immediately ambushing new clients with questions, Chris puts himself in the hot seat first. He says, “I start an interview by letting clients ask me questions, what’s my scope, how old I am, all sorts of things. Then I explain that I have to ask them a bunch of very personal questions so I like to start with letting them ask me personal questions. This helps clients feel comfortable.”

While Chris is knowledgeable and experienced in all mortgage loans, he has specialized in 203K renovation loans his entire career. He says, “People who renovate have the patience and the vision to buy the worst house in the best neighborhood and make it perfect through renovation. If you can get the right price on a house in the right school district, you can make it what you want it to be. You can change the kitchen, you can add a new bathroom, you can remove a wall to make the house just right for you and your family.”

Chris is very proud of his 17 year marriage with his wife Sandy, and of his daughters Melissa and Abby and granddaughter Jada. In addition, he is active in the Chesapeake community. For two years, he has volunteered for the MDA Lockup where Chesapeake police lock him up to raise donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). He has also has been a band parent for three years for his daughter’s high school.
