While the image of the "quintessential" homeowner might have historically skewed male, modern reality paints a vastly different picture. Today, women play a leading role in the housing market, not just as homebuyers, but also as industry leaders. Here are a few statistics that highlight their growing strengths and successes:

The National Association of REALTORS® reports that 19% of 2023's homebuyers in the U.S. were single women - outpacing single men (10%) and unmarried couples (9%).*
A recent analysis from LendingTree found that nearly 11 million single women own homes in the U.S. Conversely, single men own around 8.12 million - a difference of 2.64 million.*
According to the Harvard Business Review, women account for less than 20% of financial service executives in the U.S. Atlantic Bay's Executive Leadership Team is 80% comprised of females.*

Delaware (15.34%), Louisiana (15.19%), Mississippi (14.84%), and Alabama (14.62%) are the states with the highest homeownership rates for housing units owned and occupied solely by women in the U.S. In contrast, Utah (8.96%), Alaska (10.28%), North Dakota (10.66%), and Texas (10.71%) have the lowest owned-and-occupied rates.
Delaware boasts the widest homeownership gap, with 5.89% more single women owning than men (15.34% vs. 9.45%). Conversely, Alaska sees the smallest gap, with single women behind slightly (10.28% vs. 12.44%).
