At Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group®, we have no shortage of earthshaking and mold-breaking female team members. Case and point, we were lucky enough to hear the inspiring stories from the women of Atlantic Bay in the "Women in Business" Newsroom series released only a few years ago.

Chief Financial Officer Morgan Wise shared how you can be your own advocate, and Executive Vice President of Employee Engagement & Development Shanita Byrd encouraged us to take the risk of becoming "professionally bold." One woman who isn't afraid to be her own advocate or be bold in her daily work is our Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, Amanda Tucker. We're proud to announce that Amanda was recently named a 2023 HousingWire "Woman of Influence."

HousingWire, an influential and independent source of U.S. mortgage and housing market news, announced the cohort of women who rise above in this industry and strive every day to make the journey of those that will follow smoother and more accessible. HousingWire befittingly refers to these trailblazing ladies as "Women of Influence."

This unique, never-before-done annual award program was first launched to "recognize the significant contributions of women to both mortgage banking and real estate," according to HousingWire. The 2023 nominations were open to the public from May 2-19. After a careful review, Amanda was listed among the women to be honored for their achievements and advancements over the past 12 months.

“This is such an honor,” says Amanda. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside amazing women. Throughout my time at Atlantic Bay, so much of my growth as a leader is attributable to the women I work alongside. I also view this as an awesome responsibility to support and encourage other women within Atlantic Bay and our industry.”

“I’m fortunate to have had some amazing mentors and colleagues in my career. I think it is so important to pay that forward by supporting and creating opportunities for other women.”

So, why was Amanda – in our humble opinion – an easy choice for the "Women of Influence" award? Put simply, she is fearless. Amanda confidently stands at the forefront of many companywide initiatives and shatters the boundaries of our business by moderating industry-leading products for our communities and corporate partnerships. But most importantly, Amanda is not afraid to give back to the industry she loves through her regular speaking engagements and conference appearances.

"Over the years, I've spoken at conferences and on webinars/podcasts for the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Coalition, and other industry risk management forums," shared Amanda. "Recently, I moderated a BSA Coalition webinar on defending your institution against consumer loan fraud. In May, I moderated an ACAMS webinar, and in June, I spoke at the BSA Coalition's annual conference."

No matter the external speaking engagement, Amanda effortlessly represents the Atlantic Bay brand and our core values – We Genuinely Care, We Inspire Growth, and We Have Fun. Yet the same can be said for Amanda's internal relationships and efforts as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.

"Probably what I'm most passionate and grateful for is the work I get to do here, whether it's understanding our business initiatives and ensuring we achieve them in a safe, sound, and compliant manner to best serve our borrowers, to our work in people engagement (i.e., ensuring we offer a great culture and environment to all our employees)."

"I love what we've developed recently with AB Life and the work we continue growing with AB Cares."

As Amanda mentioned, AB Life provides regular resources to employees to stay healthy and balanced in their work and professional lives. AB Cares is our official charitable outlet that centers around the core idea of doing good and giving back to the communities we serve. It's simple: when we open a new branch, we connect with the community through employee volunteerism, financial support, and participation in corporate partnership events. Unsurprising for a HousingWire "Woman of Influence," Amanda is a critical figure in the backend of these two in-house, employee-run committees.

“The ever-evolving industry is tough; each year brings new challenges and new opportunities. In my role, I get to work on our Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management programs AND our People Engagement programs. I love wearing both hats as it allows me to connect and collaborate with team members throughout the organization.”

Amanda and the rest of HousingWire's honorees will be profiled in the upcoming August/September issue of HousingWire Magazine, so stay tuned! Amanda will also receive ongoing recognition on their website.
