This October, HousingWire – the most influential source of news and information for the U.S. mortgage and housing markets – announced their winners for the Vanguard awards program, established to recognize “c-level industry professionals and business leaders who have become experts in their respective fields within housing and mortgage finance.”

In other words, those movers and shakers whose unique vision and unparalleled guidance move the markets forward each and every day.

Enter John Wines, Atlantic Bay’s Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Executive Leadership Team Member, and now a 2023 Vanguard winner. John found his name amongst a list of trendsetters across various sectors and start-ups, including servicing, investments, real estate, and – of course – lending. However, each name shares one common trait.

An unmistakable impact on their industry at-large.

“Hearing that my leadership is seen as ‘moving markets forward’ is an immense honor,” shared John. “Our team works so hard to innovate and drive positive change throughout the organization and in the industry.”

“This recognition inspires me to stay committed to our mission, pushing boundaries, and continuing to seek innovative solutions that will improve the mortgage experience for everyone involved.”

As CSO, John oversees a diverse cross-section of departments, namely Marketing, IT, Project Management, Data Strategy, Infrastructure, and Sales Training & Enablement. He has found success due – in part – to his more than 20-year background in the mortgage industry.

John has served as an underwriter, president of a small-scale mortgage corporation, as Regional Sales Manager, and even spent time as a top producing mortgage banker in the Carolinas.

John has developed a keen eye for understanding, interpreting, and implementing solutions to meet our Sales Team’s ever evolving needs to stay competitive in today’s climate. And it all starts with a self-instilled mission to equip his teams with industry-leading technology, marketing, and sales training opportunities. You know, just vanguard things.

“My mission is to provide every member of the Atlantic Bay team with the tools and resources they need to be successful,” shares John.

“While the mission can be stated simply, the execution is much more complex.”

To put it lightly, our entire industry is in the thick of quite a complex time. But in a period of unpredictability, John embraced execution. Wasting no time in adopting modern demands for accessibility, John and his team launched several cutting-edge, company-wide technologies – including an internal chat bot.

Atlantic Bay’s AI chatbot was created to help our employees at all levels of the company “save time and work smarter.” Team members can now serve the borrowers’ needs and ask their questions about guidelines, procedures, HR, Marketing, and Payroll wherever they are in the world. In an uncomfortable time for many of us, John works tirelessly to make those around him comfortable.

“All this new tech has brought out the best in our team’s ability to collaborate, innovate, and persevere. I’m beyond excited to see where these tools help take us!”

John also played an integral role in integrating a digital, end-to-end mortgage platform into Atlantic Bay’s growing tech toolbelt. The newest point-of-sale system provides Mortgage Bankers, borrowers, and agents with a full-stop, all-in-one mobile experience. “To improve the experience for both the borrower and our team, we focus heavily on innovation,” shares John.

“Technology and automation are necessities in today’s marketplace, but they need to be implemented thoughtfully and strategically. We streamline the experience for everyone involved through our systematic approach.”

If vanguards do stand at the forefront of innovative movements, John is clearly no exception. HousingWire’s honorees will be profiled in the October/November issue of their magazine and will also receive ongoing recognition on their official website.
