The most fulfilling thing is when you bring someone over to the organization

Making waves from coast to coast, President of Strategic Growth Justin Caplan has a way of taking what might seem like a normal talent to the next level.

Helping people become the best versions of themselves and enhancing their talents is Justin’s goal.  He believes we are all capable of achieving amazing things with the right resources and support.

He is no stranger to eying top talent as he’s been in the mortgage realm since 1992. He started in banking as a loan officer, and to this day has only worked for two companies. Justin left the banking industry in 2013 to come over to Atlantic Bay, which to him, was a no-brainer.

“I knew it was time for a change and I had been chatting with Brian (Holland). I joined the team and immediately was so excited with so many different things," Justin reflects. "First, the environment where you’re encouraged to grow and develop what you’re good at. Then, the fact that we’re an organization that is able to adjust very quickly to change and how the people who work here are appreciated – just the little things leadership does, it’s the cards, the recognition, the appreciation, the access and availability to people at all levels of the organization."

Justin also adds that from a loan officer’s perspective, "The support that is available from operations, business development, technology and leadership all bundled in a fun and caring culture makes ABMG a unique place to work."

As a father of four girls, Justin knows complex environments, but working for Atlantic Bay the last seven years definitely isn’t one of them.

“The most fulfilling thing is when you bring someone over to the organization and they get settled in – and they turn to you and say, ‘Justin, this has been the best career move of my life.’ Then you know you’ve changed a life and for a mortgage banker,” he says. “We’re in a very stressful industry – we move quickly, we’re juggling deadlines - there’s always obstacles to overcome so it can be a very challenging way to make a living, but we’re lucky to work for a company where everyone pulls on the rope together.”

According to Justin, having people focus on their strengths sets them up for tremendous success.

Reflecting on his years at Atlantic Bay, Justin says, “We’ve tripled in size here and quadrupled in production and we’ve really kept the same DNA. There’s an emphasis on where people are the happiest within the organization, they will succeed, and we will give them to tools and resources to do so.”

When he’s not enhancing and building relationships with his strong work ethic and taking on any challenge at hand, you can find him hiking 10 miles every weekend in preparation to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
