A lot of the folks at Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group® are known to have spirit, it’s true, but not too many team members can point straight at the hardware to prove it.

The Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia (MBAG) recently honored Atlantic Bay’s Kurt Owen with their prestigious Edna V. Latimer Spirit Award. As Area Manager for the Georgia, Florida, and Texas branches, Kurt has exemplified the enthusiasm and drive that this esteemed award represents.

The MBAG’s pre-eminent distinction for “exemplary service and dedication” arrives uniquely at the behest of sitting President Ralph Ippolito. A former MBAG President in his own right, Kurt’s Spirit Award was not the result of any predetermined criteria or metrics.

Instead, the award is “given to those who significantly and repeatedly demonstrate support, loyalty, and dependability to the association.” In a few short words – Kurt is an MBAG hall of famer.

One representative from MBAG shared, “We at the MBAG office regularly seek Kurt’s perspective on ideas, challenges, etc.”

“He always brings a clear, level-headed approach to everything he touches, and he takes our missions and goals seriously.”

Several years removed from his tenure as president, the long-time resident of the Metro Atlanta region continues to be active and engage regularly in MBAG events, initiatives, and charitable efforts. “Kurt continues to help the next group of members who follow behind him,” revealed MBAG.

Of course, many at Atlantic Bay have become quite familiar with Kurt’s gusto.

Joining the company in 2015 to take on a newly introduced position in an untapped Georgia market, Kurt has been a passionate leader and educator to his coworkers and the communities he serves.

Growing a team from the ground up is a challenging task for anyone. Still, Kurt’s patience and nurturing leadership style, developed from parenting four kids and dedicating time as a special needs educator, made him the ideal candidate for the job.

Nearly a decade later, thousands of families served across the southern footprint, and one Spirit Award later, Kurt’s tenacity for lending peace of mind to borrowers and professionals alike is as strong as ever. Please join us in congratulating Kurt for an incredible honor from MBAG!
